Bath time

This is our own personal grackle. He and his mate routinely eat the bugs off the patio ceiling, steal the dog kibble (and dunk it in the footbath to soften it) and generally make a lot of noise. They are very entertaining birds and strut about with great confidence. One of their calls sounds like a slide whistle and we imitate them, albeit poorly. Wonder what they think?

Hey Joan, For me the Grackle is one of the great joys of living here . I love the sounds they make and enjoy watching them in the pool also .

I love them too! I always get hell for saying that around any Mexican friends, they really think of the bird as an ugly nuisance....I find that glistening greenish blue in their feathers really pretty, and their call is kind of funny too. AND...I like that they clean up any stray dog kibble ! Great pictures..

love those birds! they make the most amazing sounds. there's one that sounds like someone shaking a box of rocks. listening to them in the early morning sitting up in the palm tree always makes me think of that phrase "say it loud, say it proud" and they do. kickass feisty birds. lynette
